I’m down at One Stop in Cannock, setting up a display for the IWS Trident Pro System.
We’re showcasing the 16L version, a 6-pot system. Each Trident system comes with a different-sized tank depending on the number of pots. Here’s how I set up this 6-pot system.
What Makes the Trident Pots Unique
The Trident pots are a step up from the original IWS systems.
- Built-in stands provide better support.
- Root rods at the base improve aeration and nutrient distribution.
- Grommet fittings (instead of glands) make setup easier.
When setting up the pots:
- Warm the grommets before inserting them - it makes installation much easier.
- Use Trident Lube to avoid tearing or damaging the grommets. Apply it to both the grommet and the fittings (T or elbow) for a secure seal that’s easy to assemble and disassemble.
Tank and Pump Setup
Each system includes an IWS Flexi Tank paired with a high-pressure Italian pump -one in the tank and another in the brain for top-tier performance.
To set it up:
- Position the tank and attach the fill and drain pipes.
- On a 6-pot system, you’ll need six elbows, one for each lane.
- For larger systems (e.g., 12, 24, or 48 pots), use T-fittings and elbows to expand the lanes
Pot Options and Features
- The Trident comes in two pot sizes: 16L for shorter plants and 25L for larger ones.
- Each pot includes a fabric insert that sits on top of the root rods. These inserts prevent roots from clogging lines while allowing air and nutrients to flow freely.
- The fabric pot design reduces root tangling, making it easy to clean and reuse.
Feeding and Timer Setup
The Trident Pro features an easy-to-use grass timer:
- Set feeding intervals by pushing out segments on the timer.
- Adjust feeding duration using the dial.
- Example schedule for a 6-pot system using 60/40 media:
- Early Growth: 1 feed per day.
- Vegging Stage: 2 feeds per day.
- Flowering Stage: 3 feeds per day, tapering off toward the end to allow for dry-back.
